All American Canal Lining Project

The All American Canal, considered an engineering marvel even by today's standards, is an 82 mile, unlined, gravity fed, water way. Providing approximately 3.1 million acre - feet of water annually to nine cities and 500,000 acres of agricultural lands through out the Imperial Valley.

Mr. Ken Gilmore, of R&L Brosamer has made several major modifications to machines to enable them to be used in this project due to the fact that the canal is so wide and so deep. The Canal lining project entailed lining 23 miles of canal and took 2 years to complete. The lining will conserve 67,700 acre/feet per year of Colorado river water that was being lost due to seepage.

Channel 1 was the exclusive photographer and videographer for this project.
